The Mapping of Countries Yet to Come is a live multimedia performance and exhibition curated by and created for Center for the Arts Eagle Rock. This collaboration between Los Angeles based artists’ Miwa Matreyek and Steven Ellison combines both artists’ talents, providing a unique combination of video, music and performance for audiences. This project marks the first time they have combined their talents to create a new piece of art.
Miwa Matreyek is an internationally recognized animator and multi-media filmmaker. Steven Ellison, known publicly as Flying Lotus, is a globally appreciated experimental electronic artist.
The exhibition will feature an interactive educational multi-media room where visitors can view a video documenting the process to create The Mapping of Countries Yet to Come. The exhibition space will also feature inspirational materials from the curators and artists.
This project is made possible by the Los Angeles County Arts Commission through the Cultivate Create Initiative, which provided Center for the Arts Eagle Rock with a matching grant for the commission of The Mapping of Countries Yet to Come.
