Miquela Davis

Miquela Davis' (she/her) film and photography work is inspired by finding the beauty in seemingly mundane daily life, always chasing the best light and capturing natural moments with people she cares about. She volunteers in her free time for the volunteer-run arthouse movie theater The Frida Cinema in Santa Ana, CA, producing their film podcast Scene Selections.

As a disabled and Native artist raised by a single, low-income parent, accessibility in the arts is top priority to me. In my curation of art shows I have always sought underrepresented artists to be displayed and given a voice. In my education practices I want to engage people who may have otherwise thought there wasn’t space for them, and reassure them to take up as much space as possible. My teaching nature is to support the innate creativity we all have as human beings, and to foster that by showing easy and affordable ways to be an artist. We all have a story, and we should all be able to tell that story.
